MEDICAL INSPECTION OF SCHOOL
CHILDREN.
The Medical Inspection of School Children is carried
out by the Education Department of the Surrey County
Council. The Medical Officer of Health is called in on
occasions to examine children suspected to be suffering from
infectious or contagious disease.
SCHOOLS.
Visits are paid to Schools in the District in order to see
that the sanitary arrangements, etc., are satisfactory, and
also, at other times, when necessary, special visits were
made.

The following Table shows the number of visits, etc., paid during the year:—

During the year the following Schools were closed on
the recommendation of the Medical Officer of Health, owing
to the prevalence of Infectious Disease:—
Bandon Hill Infants' from 16th March to 29th March, for
Measles.
Hackbridge Infants' from 10th September to 6th October,
for Whooping Cough.
Bandon Hill from 22nd November to 23rd November, for
disinfection of the class-rooms.
AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
Two motor ambulances are provided for the removal of
persons suffering from Infectious Disease to the Isolation
Hospital.
