At Calais-Harwich Train Ferry.—On Thursday, 8th June, a first consignment
of Spanish Fruit was inspected at Durward Street Goods Station which
had been authorised by H.M. Customs for this purpose by reason of the lack
of space at Bishopsgate Goods Station to deal effectively with this extra
perishable traffic.
On Saturday, 10th June, 2 trucks of Indian mangoes arrived, being the
first time this fruit had been sent by this route, having apparently been shipped
from Bombay to Marseilles and thence by rail to Calais.

The following foodstuffs were found to be unsound and were destroyed:— Ex Zeebrugge-Harwich and Calais-Harwich Train Ferries.
