BOROUGH ANALYST'S REPORT.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the
Metropolitan Borough of Stepney.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit to you my seventh Annual Report, dealing
with the work carried out in the Borough Laboratory during the year 1930.
During the year 1,602 samples were submitted to me for analysis, these samples were made up as under:-

The 1,532 samples of foods and drugs were purchased or taken by Inspectors under the Food and Drugs (Adulteration) Act, and consisted of:-
Formal samples | 948 |
Informal samples | 570 |
Milk (appeal to cow) | 14 |

Out of 948 formal samples 24 or 2.5 per cent. were adulterated and of
570 informal samples 11 or 1.9 per cent. were adulterated, making a total of
1,518 samples out of which 35 samples or 2.3 per cent. were adulterated.
Out of 14 "Appeal to cow" samples, 11 failed to pass the standard. Table A
shows the nature of the samples taken under the Food and Drugs (Adulteration)
Act, and gives the numbers and percentages found to be adulterated.
