(c.) Respiratory System.—Forty-four in St. Saviour, forty-one
in Christchurch, one in Christchurch Workhouse, and
thirty-five in outlying institutions.
(d.) Digestive System.—Fourteen in St. Saviour, seven in
Christchurch, one in the Workhouse, and sixteen in outlying
institutions.
(e.) Urinary System.—Four in St. Saviour, two in Christchurch,
and thirteen in outlying institutions.
(f) Integumentary System.—Two in St. Saviour, one in Christchurch,
and three in outlying institutions.
(g.) Bones and Joints—Six cases in outlying institutions.
VI. Violence.
In St. Saviour five persons met with a violent death,
eleven in Christchurch, and nineteen in outlying institutions.
A list of verdicts is appended.
VII. Ill-defined.
One case each in St. Saviour and Christchurch were not
sufficiently defined to be put in the above tabulated statement.
During the year 1898 inquests were held on the bodies of
17 persons in St. Saviour's sub-district, and 19 in Christchurch,
as well as in 31 cases belonging to the district which were held
in outlying institutions, when the following verdicts were
returned.
