construct an approach road to the Company's goods depot
in Ewer Street, now in course of formation. The Company
also seek power to acquire the site of the King Henry VIII.
Head public house in Union Street, and so much of the
adjoining premises as is within the limits of deviation
shown upon the deposited plan.
Our Surveyor has reported as under :—
"That the works will involve the construction of
another bridge across Gravel Lane in addition to the one
already erected, and so as to form an archway about 195 feet
in length. The height of the proposed new arch is 17 feet
6 inches, the lowest headway of any of the existing brick
arches crossing that thoroughfare being about 17 feet 9
inches.
" That no provision is made in the Bill for facing the
abutments of the arch with white glazed bricks, and, as a
matter of fact, the eastern abutment is already constructed
in stock bricks being part of the goods depot wall.
"That no provision is made for lighting the portion of
Gravel Lane to be covered in by this arch, which, in connection
with those already existing, will make the public
way dark.
"That there is no clause requiring the Company to
give the Board notice in writing before commencing the
works, or to submit plans, elevations, etc.

house proposed to be taken and within the limits of deviation
shown upon the deposited plan, the Board has a shed or
lock-up, in which tools, brooms, ballast, etc., are kept,
situate over the site of an old sewer vested in the Board
under the provisions of the Metropolis Local Management
Act. This shed has a doorway entrance and window
above, and an available space inside of 29 feet by 3 feet
6 inches, an area of 101 superficial feet. It is not included
in the book of reference or scheduled in any way as being
the property of the Board.
"That the loss of this shed will cause serious inconvenience,
seeing that ballast for the carriageway of Union
Street, which is now asphalted, is kept in the shed."
We consider that the Board would be justly entitled
to compensation in respect of this shed.
We recommend, therefore, that a Petition be presented
to Parliament against this Bill in order to obtain a
