any way disqualified will be reduced from £50 to £20
or less. Some difference of opinion however prevails
as to whether the clause 46 can be held to apply to
District Boards of Works, inasmuch as by sub-section 9
it is to apply in the case of any authority u'hose members
are elected in accordance with the Act, and seeing that
the mode of election of Members of District Boards is

Parish Council, as mentioned in the Act.

Local Management Act, 1855, the time and mode of such
elections being, as above stated, unaltered by the new Act.
ELECTION OF CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD AND COMMITTEES.
In accordance with the requirement of Sect. 31, that a District
Board of Works shall, at its first meeting after the annual
election of members, elect a Chairman for the year, the Board,
on the 18th of June last, proceeded to elect a Chairman. The
voting was by ballot, and the result was declared to be as
follows:—
For Mr. Frederick Baxter 17 votes.
For Mr. Henry J. Coles 7 „
