HOUSING OF THE WORKING CLASSES ACT, 1890.
Correspondence having taken place with the London County
Council relative to certain houses alleged by the Council to be insanitary,
a conference. was requested with the Council's Subcommittee,
which was held on the 11th December, 1890. At the
conference the Sub-Committee expressed themselves satisfied with
what had been effected in the houses on the south side of White
Hart Street, and were of opinion that a reconstruction scheme should
be applied to Turner's Court. With regard to Russell Court no
arrangement was made. On the loth January, 1891, the Vestry's
Special Committee submitted a scheme prepared by the Surveyor,
relative to certain houses situate in Turner's Court which could be
dealt with under Part 2 of the Act, and they suggested the preparation
of an alternative scheme, to include other houses contiguous
thereto, which could be dealt with by the Council under Part 1. and
the submission of the schemes to the Council to ascertain what proportion
they would contribute towards the cost of carrying out the
same. The suggestions were adopted, and plans were forwarded in
order to obtain an expression of opinion from the Council's Committee
as to which they would prefer. They were also requested to state
whether they considered the areas should be dealt with under Part
1 or Part 2 of the Act.
