PARLIAMENTARY BILLS.

A Petition with regard to the following- Bill has been forwarded
to the Right Honourable Lord Kinnaird, for presentation in the
House of Lords during the year, viz.:—
ElEctric Lighting Act (1882) Amendment.— Against.
Petitions have also been forwarded to the Right Honourable
W. H. Smith, M.P., for presentation during the year, viz.:—
Advertising Stations (Rating).— In favour.
Beer Adulteration.— In favour.
Housing of the Working Classes (London).— In favour.
London Coal and Wine Duties, (Continuance).— In favour.
Personal Property (Exemption from Sale).— In favour.
Rating of Machinery.— Against.
School Board for London (Pensions).— Against.
United Telephone Company.—Against.
Vacant Grounds (Nuisances Prevention).— In favour.
Advertising Stations (Rating).— The Bill seeks to enact an
amendment in the law with respect to rating places used for
advertisements, and on the 28th June, 1888, it was resolved to petition
in favour of the Bill, and Mr. Burdett-Coutts was requested to
introduce a clause to prohibit the use cf permanent hoardings for
advertising purposes without the license of the local authorities.
The Bill was subsequently dropped.
Beer Adulteration.— By this Bill it is proposed to be enacted
that the purity of beer shall be secured, and on the 28th June, 1888,
it was resolved to petition in its favour. The Bill was eventually,
dropped.
Bribery (Public Bodies) Prevention.— On the 26th July
1888, it was reported that this Bill had been withdrawn.
