Disease of Heart.—Disease of Heart caused 25
deaths; it was most fatal in persons aged between
40 and 60 years.
Cancer.—Cancer was fatal to 23 persons. This
being a disease of middle life, the deaths occurred
chiefly in persons between the ages of 40 and 60 years.
Suffocation.— Three infants were accidentally
suffocated whilst sleeping with their parents. This is
not an uncommon accident amongst young infants, and
it would be as well for mothers who are heavy sleepers
not to have their children in bed with them all night,
but lying beside the bed in a cot.
The deaths from other causes will be found fully
detailed in the Tables at the end of my Report.
