The ranks in the Haymarket and St. James's Square are
provided with Cabman's Shelters. These shelters were
provided and are maintained at private expense.
CAB SHELTERS.
In accordance with the suggestion made by the Vestrv
to the Departmental Committee appointed to inquire into
certain questions connected with the Metropolitan Cab
service that a Cabman's Shelter mio lit with advantage be
placed in the centre of the Haymarket by Panton Street,
the Secretary of the Cabmen's Shelter Fund, in June, made
application for the formal consent of the Vestry to the
erection of a shelter in the position mentioned. The Vestry
gave their consent, as also did the Vestry of St. Martin-inthe-Fields,
and the shelter was in due course erected.
AMBULANCE STATIONS.
With the assent of the Vestry a street ambulance station,
available in case of accident, &c., was established some time
since by the Hospitals Association at the cab rank in St.
James's Square.
Notices have also been appended to certain street lamps
indicating the nearest ambulance station in the Parish or
adjacent thereto.
PILLAR LETTER BOXES.
Pillar letter boxes, erected by the Postmaster-General,
with the assent of the Vestry, are situate in the undermentioned
thoroughfares :—

Golden Square.
Great Marlborough Street.
