their positions as Trustees of this Charity just previous to
25th March, 1895, a request was received from the Clerk to
the Charity, asking the Vestry to fill up the vacancy. On
the matter being considered, both Mr. Bonthron and
Mr. Winnett expressed their unwillingness to stand for reelection
in consequence of certain difficulties which had
arisen, and the subject was then referred to the General
Purposes Committee of the Vestry, to consider if any action
could be taken with reference to the administration of the
Charity, with a view to the re-election of the abovementioned
gentlemen. The Vestry, on the recommendation
of this Committee, decided to address a communication to
the representatives of the Charity for the parish
of St. George, Hanover Square, asking them to confer
with the representatives of this district on the subject,
and at the same time deferred the appointment of Trustees
to fill the vacancies before mentioned. Owing to the death
of Mr. Bonthron, who keenly felt the need of certain
improvements being made in the administration of this
Charity, the matter has not yet been further proceeded
with.
