LE QUAINTER'S CHARITY.
The only charity which is administered by the Vestry is
that known as Le Quainter's, which arose from a bequest
in 1782 by Mr. Peter Le Quainter, formerly resident in
Piccadilly. It will be seen on reference to the last Annual
Report of the Vestry, that the Vestry had adopted a
number of suggestions made by a Special Committee
appointed to consider the subject of the future administration
of this Charity, and had applied to the Charity
Commissioners to give their consent to the contemplated
alterations. As then mentioned, the Commissioners deferred
the consideration of the question, as they proposed holding
an inquiry into the history and work of the administration
of the charities of St. James's. The proposed inquiry,
however, has not yet been held, and the matter remained in
abeyance at Lady-day last.
