REPORT OF SANITARY INSPECTORS AS TO CONDITION
OF BAKEHOUSES IN THE PARISH DURING
THE YEAR 1895.

To the Public Health Committee.
Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
We beg to report that we have visited the whole of the
Bakehouses (numbering 28) in the Parish during the year 1895.
In one case the ventilation has been improved and the
watercloset adjoining same reconstructed. In two cases certain
necessary amendments to Drains and Waterclosets have been
postponed for a short period of time in consequence of structural
alterations about to be made on renewal of leases. One
additional Bakehouse has been erected in the Parish during the
year.
Four of the above Bakehouses (underground) were not in
use at the end of the year, three of these have not been in use as
Bakehouses during the whole of the year, and one has been closed
for several months, they will therefore not be allowed to be again
used as Bakehouses in accordance with the Factory and Workshop
Act, 1895.
The majority of the Bakehouses generally have been well
kept, and every facility has been given by the owners of same for
inspection when visited by us.
