Place), Ormond Yard and Jermyn Street (between the
Criterion and Regent Street) were taken up and relaid, and
also small portions of the footway paving of sundry other
streets.
OLD MATERIALS.
The quantities of old materials sold were 273 square
feet of York stone paving.
REFUGE.
At the request of the Commissioner of Police the Refuge
on the north side of Piccadilly Circus was moved about 16
feet farther north to give the vehicular traffic more room
to turn.
BURY STREET.
On the 20th September last half the roadway slipped
in at the lower end of Bury Street in consequence of the
shores in the excavation for the new building at the corner
of Bury Street and King Street giving way, but fortunately
no one was injured. The roadway was made good again
as speedily as possible.
HYDRAULIC MAINS.
During the year the London Hydraulic Power Company
have laid a new main in Jermyn Street from St..
James's Street to No. 71, Jermyn Street.
