less than 1,906,783 tickets have been issued to Washers in the
Laundry, and 4,320,928 to Bathers, making together a total of
Six Millions Two Hundred and Twenty-Seven Thousand Seven
Hundred and Eleven tickets issued. These figures are an
eloquent testimony to the value of the establishment.
The number of bathers (104,766) shows an increase of
close on 7,000 over the figures for the previous year, the
increase extending over each department, that is, men's,
women's, and swimming. The number of tickets issued for
the laundry, on the other hand, shows a decline of nearly
2,000.
The Commissioners state that they took advantage of the
favourable condition of their finances to pay off the whole
balance of the debt (£400) in July last, instead of paying the
same by two instalments in January, 1 1890, and January,
1891, respectively.
Upon the application of the Commissioners, the Vestry
have assented, to the sites of Nos. 19 to 23, Marshall Street,
which belong to the Parish, being appropriated to the purpose
of extending the Baths, and the proposal now awaits
the confirmation of the Local Government Board.
The two Commissioners who retired in January by
effluxion of time (Mr. Tysall and Mr. Winnett) were reelected.
for the usual period.
A list of the Commissioners is given on page 12, and a
statement of their receipts and expenditure for the year 1889,
and the number of bathers and washers, on pages 152
and 153.
