The Vestry have also to acknowledge the gift of shrubs by
the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association for the adornment
and better screening of the entrance to the Ladies'
Section.
As the Vestry anticipated, the construction of Conveniences
in so public a position has proved an immense boon. From
the date of opening to the 25th March no less than 97,652
persons have used the men's closets, 87,643 the ladies', and
1,226 the lavatory. From rough computations which have
been made at various times, it is estimated that the average
number using the urinals, for which no charge is made, is
about 50,000 a week.
A statement of the receipts and working expenses of the
Conveniences will be found in the Accounts commencing on
page 136.
