ventilating pipe from the sewer in Brewer Street has been
carried up the side of St. Luke's Church, above the roof, and
a pipe from the sewer in Hopkin Street up the side of
Ingestre Buildings, above the roof. There is a very sharp
draught to both pipes.
Several of the small subsidiary sewers running under the
vaults of the houses in Regent Street have been partially
blocked. In each case the stoppage was removed, and where
found necessary the old barrel drain destroyed and earthenware
pipes substituted.
The cost of repairing sewers, bricking up old disused
drains, new side entrance covers, &c., amounted to the sum
of £176 18s. 6d. for the year.
