SALE OF FOOD, Ac., ACTS.
During the past year, 99 articles of food, drink, and drugs have
been submitted to the Public Analyst, and although in several
instances, articles such as milk, mustard, &c., were found to be of
low standard quality, it was not deemed necessary or advisable to
institute any proceedings for penalties as provided by the Act.
Several tradesmen were however cautioned as to the quality of the
goods analysed, and in most cases the caution has resulted in an
improvement in the quality of the articles sold. Notices have been
issued calling attention to the requirements of the law regarding
the sale of compounded or mixed articles, with a view to prosecution
being subsequently undertaken if the law is infringed.
