1.—All applications for the admission or removal of bodies shall be
made to the Superintendent in charge of the Building by printed
forms to be properly filled up and signed by the applicants ;
such forms may be obtained either at the Vestry Hall, Piccadilly,
or at the residence of the Superintendent, Mr. Edwin Brooks,
No. 15, Portland Street.
2.—Every dead body received into the Mortuary House shall be
removed therefrom for interment within a period of six days,
dating from the day on which the death occurred.
3.—In cases where death is certified as having been caused by Small
Pox, Fever, Malignant Scarlatina, or other diseases of a highly
contagious nature, the body shall be removed for interment
within Three days from the day on which the death occurred ;
but it shall be competent for the Medical Officer of Health to
order interment at any time when from rapid decomposition,
or other causes, an early interment shall, on the grounds of
public health and safety, be in his opinion necessary.
4.—The time for receiving bodies into the Mortuary House shall be
between 7 a.m. and 9. p.m.
5.—Any person wishing to use the Mortuary House as a temporary
receptacle for the body of a deceased relative, friend, or servant,
shall give the written guarantee of a responsible householder
previous to the admission of such body, by way of security for
the removal of the same at the proper time ; and if, from any
cause, the said body be not removed within the specified time,
the interment will be carried out by the order of the Parochial
Authorities at the expense of the guarantor.
6.—Every dead body received into the Mortuary House must be
first placed within a properly-made coffin or shell.
7.—In cases where a dead body has been removed to the Mortuary
House by the order of a Justice of the Peace, or at the instance of
the Medical Officer of Health, and the friends or relatives of the
deceased person shall refuse or neglect to remove such body for
interment at the time specified in such Order, or by these
Regulations, the interment will take place by order of the
Parochial Authorities.
8.—The friends or relatives of a deceased person deposited within
the Mortuary House, not exceeding three at any one time, upon
application to the Superintendent, may visit the building daily
between the hours of 9 a.m. and sunset; but in the event of any
person causing a disturbance, or behaving in a manner inconsistent
with due decorum and propriety, the attendant is empowered
to cause such person to be forthwith removed from
the building.
