Reverend Sir, My Lords, and Gentlemen,
In reviewing the works executed in my
department during the last twelve months, but very
little is required by way of explanation. With
regard to the various lists appended to this short
report, the majority of the matters having been done
upon the authority of, and after consideration by
the Works Committee, are therefore fresh in the
recollection of the Vestry; and, as will be seen,
hardly any new works have been attempted at all,
though such a state of things cannot last very long,
as it is evident that the whole of the Parish paving
will, "wear out" at once if a reasonable proportion
of new is not executed at least every year.
The year has, upon the whole, been favourable
for the maintenance of the paved surfaces, especially
St. James's, Westminster.

| A sum of £1,400 borrowed by the Trustees of Golden Square upon Security of the Rates raised under their Local Act, with Interest at 5 per cent. paid by the Trustees to the Bondholders, from the 1st January, 1856, to the 16th July, 1863, and continued Interest to the Bondholders from the 16th December, 1864.
