persons who could have no legitimate business
there from having accers to the sewers, and which
item I trust will never appear again.
The various other matters set forth in the list
require little explanation. Some improvements
have been made in ventilation, some new gullies
built, and several trapped; much of course still
remains to be done in these matters, but as the
whole subject is under the consideration of the
Metropolitan Board of Works, and as they are
collecting all the information they can, it is wise to
wait and avail ourselves of the benefit of their
labour, when the result is published.
URINALS.
During the twelve months the Vestry have
removed two offensive uninals, one in Mason's Yard,
Duke Street, and one in Ham Yard, Great Windmill
Street, and have substituted two new state ones in
their stead, with increased accommodation in cach;
though these are manifest imprvements, still much
remains to be done to reach perfection, and the fact
cannot be denied, that to construct public
veniences, to meet all the requirements of the
population of London, is a far more serious under-
taking than appears at first sight, or would be
