TO THE VESTRY
of
The parish of St. James, Westminster.
Rev. Sir and Gentlemen,
In laying before you my Third Annual
Report, I have divided it into two heads:—
I.—On the Death Rate and prevailing Diseases of
the parish in the year 1858.
II.—On the Sanitary work done in the parish in
the year 1858.
I.—ON THE DEATH RATE AND PREVAILING
DISEASES IN THE YEAR
1858.
I have this year, as I have done in my two
previous Reports, drawn up four Tables*, in which
you will find the causes of death in each division of
the parish and the Workhouse recorded. From
these Tables may be learned not only the actual
cause of the mortality in the parish for the entire
year, but the quarter of the year in which particular
diseases have been prevalent, and the district
of the parish in which they have occurred.
*See Appendix.
