has also been built in a court leading from the
Haymarket to Market Street, in the hope that it
would mitigate the fearful nuisances committed
there after dark, and to a great extent it has
accomplished this purpose; three others, in Blenheim
Street, Marlborough Row, and Great Pulteney
Street, have had cisterns made and water supplied
to facilitate cleansing, for which purpose men arc
constantly employed, and I think you may congratulate
yourselves on the state of your local
Sewerage, which I believe to be now in as good condition
and as perfect as any in the Metropolis, and
allowing for accidents, which may happen in some of
the older portions, will probably be maintained at
a comparatively small cost for many years.
