sanctioned by a Local Authority, or which has not been approved as
a sewer by the Commissioners of Sewers, the Metropolitan Board of
Works, or the London County Council.
The Vestry concurred with the provisions of the Bill, and urged
the London County Council to take up and secure the introduction
of the measure.
Census.
The Vestry concurred with the expression of opinion of the
Vestry of Camberwell that Her Majesty's Government should be
asked to provide for the future taking of the Census in
the Metropolis by the same authority that is responsible
for the preparation of the Voters lists, having regard to the great
importance of a correct return being obtained for the equitable
working of the Equalisation of Kates Act.
Inter-communication
by
underground
electric railways.
The Vestry of St. Margaret and St. John, Westminster, urged
upon the Vestry to support that authority in making representation
to the London County Council to oppose certain underground
electric railway schemes with a view to the formation
of a Parliamentary Committee to consider and report
upon the routes along which further underground electric
railways should pass, so that such schemes should be based upon a
considered and formulated plan of inter-communication throughout
London to be defined by Parliament. The Vestry concurred with
this view and directed a communication to be forwarded to the
London County Council accordingly.
Rating of
railways in
progress.
The attention of the Vestry was called by the Vestry of St.
Mary, Lattersea, to the necessity of a measure being passed to amend
Section 133 of the Lands Clauses Consolidation Act,
1845, whereby local authorities shall in future be entitled
to be recouped the whole of the local rates instead of only
the Poor Late in respect of any property acquired by railway or other
companies until the new works come into rating. The Vestry
concurred with this view, and directed a communication to be
forwarded to the local Members of Parliament accordingly.
