Parish of St. George the Martyr, Southwark.
SCAVENGING, WATERING,
AND
REMOVAL OF DUST DEPARTMENT
The whole of the Courts and Alleys throughout the Parish have been flush
disinfected with McDougall's fluid, by means of water cart and hose, during t???
weather, commencing in May and terminating in October.
I would suggest that Street Orderly Bins should be fixed in borough High
for the deposit of horse droppings, to be collected during the day; this wo???
advantageous as a sanitary measure.
Every effort has been made to carry out the work with the reduced Staff and
in a satisfactory manner, but it has been found necessary to hire extra ho???
intervals.
I must again respectfully refer to my Report of 1888 suggesting the acquisi???
a Wharf by the vestry, with a view to the reduction of the cost of shoot, and in???
facilties of unloading the vans, as compared with present arrangements.
The quantity of Dust and Slop Drift sent to the Newington Depot for th???
ending 28th March, 1891, was -
Dust ... 19,945 eubic yards, equal to 11,374 tons 9 cwt.
