Surveyor's Annual Report. 33
SEWERS DEPARTMENT.
The whole of the Brick and Pipe Sewers have been flushed
cleansed.
Since my last report, the necessity for the construction of Flushing
ambers at the summits of the Pipe Sewers that cannot be flushed by
??? ans of the brick sewers, has again been amply shown by the
??? ppage of many of the pipe sewers during the past year.
It would be very beneficial to the Parish if the Main Sewers under
control of the Metropolitan Board of Works were more thoroughly
shed and cleansed.
This could easily and effectually be done by using the water from
??? e River Thames at high water for the main sewers on the southern
??? e of the Thames, by carrying a 9 inch pipe from the ends of the
??? vers to the river.
The undermentioned Works have also been executed, viz :—
??? wers opened, cleansed and repaired 25
??? w Sewers constructed and lengthened 3
??? use Drains connected into Sewers 58
??? use Drains cleared by Flushers 37
??? w Gullies constructed 12
