EWERS DEPARTMENT
The whole of the Brick and Pipe Sewers have been flushed
and cleansed.
Since the Water Companies have laid on the constant supply,
there has been no overflow or waste of Water, which, under the old
intermittent supply system, was the case, and assisted very much in
flushing the Drains and Sewers. Consequently some additional means
must he adopted for flushing. I should recommend either the purchase
of a Flushing Van, or arrangements being made with the Companies
for flushing from their hydrants and water mains.
The undermentioned Works have also been executed, viz:— .
Sewers opened, cleansed and repaired 23
New Sewers constructed and lengthened 10
House Drains connected into Sewers 531
House Drains cleared by Flushers 20-
New Gullies constructed 19
New Urinal constructed j
