Manholes.
New manholes have been constructed upon the sewers during the year, and provided
with heavy cast-iron circular covers, in the following streets—those fixed at the ends of
sewers being provided with flushing penstocks:—
Swan Lane to Clarence Street 6
Chilton Street (rear of) 3
Seven flushing penstocks were used in connection with these manholes.
The following existing manholes which were covered over below the ground level have
been brought to the surface and provided with covers:—
Parfitt Road 2
Cranbam Road 2
Silwood Street 1
Silverlock Street 2
Rotherhithe Street 3
Bracton Road 1
Culling Road 1
Old Road 1
New oak blocks have been inserted in the covers where necessary, the cost of the same
being £4 5s. Od.
Drainage Works.
One hundred and sixty-two notices have been received in reference to the re-drainage
of houses, erection of new houses, etc., as follows:—
