On the 1st August, 1882, the Vestry passed the following resolutions, viz.:—
"Resolved, that the main drain and the gulleys required at the Plaistow Charity
"Estate, be carried out at once under the direction of the Surveyor of Sewers, by the
"Contractor for Sewers .lobbing Works, at the present contract prices"; also,
"Resolved, that the cost of the said drainage works be apportioned by the Sur"veyor
of Sowers, pro rata, for payment by the owners of the houses already erected on
"The l'laistow Charity Kstate, and the residue of the cost to be borne for the present
"by the Vestrv as a loan to Trustees ot the said Charitv Kstate, to 1m- reimbursed to
"the Vestry when the said Trustees have sufficient funds for that purpose."
In November, 1882. the said drainage works were accordingly carried out by the
Vestry in Red riff-road, Plaistow, at a total cost of £142 0s. 7d.
The leaseholders of the eight houses erected upon the said Charity Estate have
paid to the Vestry their apportionments of the cost of such drainage, amounting to
£27 12s. 0d.
The Vestry have advertised for proposals for letting the vacant land at Plaistow,
at low ground rents, for a term of 80 years, either as a whole or in plots of two or
more, but up to the present time no satisfactory offer for the same has been received.
