The following are copies of Dr. John Muter's (the Analyst) Reports for the four
quarters ending 25th March, 1878:—
Central London Laboratory,
Kennington Cross, S.E.
To the Vestry of Rotherhithe, 25th June, 1877.
Gentlemen,
I have to report that during the past quarter I have received from the
Inspector only three samples of food for analysis. They were all milks, and one was
found good, while two were found to be mixed with water in the respective proportions
of 15 and 32 per cent.
I have to receive the sum of 10/6 for each of these analyses, making a total of
£1 l1s. 6d. for the quarter.

To the Vestry of Rotherhithe, 10th October, 1877.
Gentlemen,
I beg to report that during the quarter ending September 29th,
I have received from the Inspector the following articles for analysis, viz.: —

Total 9 Articles.
Of these, two butters were of very low quality and one coffee was pure. The
remainder were found to be impure, viz.:—

P.S.— The fees receivable by me will be 10s. 6d. per sample, making a total of
£4 14s. 6d. an my remuneration for the quarter.
