My remuneration has been at the rate of 10s. 6d. per sample, making a
total of £7 7s. 0d. for the quarter.

In April 1876, the Vestry caused small hand-bills to be printed and circulated
throughout the Parish, intimating the Vestry would in future take steps to enforce
the penalties under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act against persons selling
articles of food &c., found to be adulterated. Proceedings have been taken by the
Inspector under the Act against persons selling articles of food certified by the
Analyst to have been adulterated as follows, viz:—
During the quarter ending 24th June, 1876, two persons were summoned to the
Greenwich Police Court and fined twenty shillings each and costs; and in the quarter
ending 25th March, 1877, four were summoned and fined respectively £3 and two
shillings costs; £1 and two shillings costs, £l, and in the last case two shillings the
cost of the summons only.
Financial.
£4257 18s. 0d. has been paid off the Loan borrowed of Mr. Robert Lawrence
for paving the carriageway Union Road and part of the Deptford Lower Road,
leaving £5204 2s. 0d. to be repaid by equal instalments within a period of 11
years, with interest at 5 per cent. per annum
The Loan of £1500 for paving works, also the Loan of £200 for sewers works
obtained of the late Mr. Edmond George Dannell have been paid off.
The Loans of £1500 for paving works and £600 for sewers works borrowed
of Mr. Edward Talbot still continue, these loans being repayable in 15 and 10 years
respectively.
The Vestry set aside £160 yearly to form a sinking fund to pay the same off
at the expiration of the said terms, the sum at present standing to such sinking fund
account being £1120 0s. 0d.
£,2500 0s. 0d. has been paid off the Loan borrowed of the Eagle Insurance
Company for paving the carriageway Deptford Lower Road, from the Surrey
