The carriageways and the footways of the following new streets have been
made up and paved, under contract with Mr. Alfred Thomas Hobman, viz:—
Nelldale-road, contract sum £310.
Pedworth-road, do. £300.
Mossington-road, do. £310.
the whole cost of such paving, &c., will be borne by the owners of the property in
the said roads, but the vestry in all cases where the owners desire it, take payment
of such cost by instalments, as follows, viz:—one half of such cost before the works
are commenced, one fourth in six months, and the remaining one fourth in twelve
months from the commencement of the work.
The roadway and footways Napier-terrace, Plough-road, have been made up
and paved, and the cost thereof apportioned amongst the owners of property abutting
thereon.
Paving Jobbing Works.
Mr. William Etheridge is the contractor for the Paving Jobbing Works, at a
schedule of prices. (For particulars of contract see page 9.)
Lighting.
Six additional Gas Lamps have been set up and lighted during the past year,
viz:—1 in Gomm-road, (Rebecca-terrace); 2 in Pedworth-road; 2 in Nelldale-road;
and 1 in Mossington-road, making the total number of lamps lighted by the Surrey
Consumers Gas Company 386. (For particulars of contract see page 9.)
Cleansing, Watering, &c.
Mr. Alfred Thomas Hobman continues to contract for the supply of men, horses
and carts, at per day for man, horse and cart, and for the removal of sweepings from
the whole of the roads and streets, (after the same has been swept up by the Labourers
employed by the vestry) to a shoot provided by the vestry.
Mr. A. T. Hobman also contracts for the supply of horses, harness and drivers
for the vestry's water carts. (For particulars of contract see page 9.)
Dusting.
Mr. William Etheridge is the contractor tor removing the Dust, Ashes, See., from
the dwellings of the inhabitants and out of the parish; the contractor also agrees to
remove, when required, from mills, factories and premises, trade refuse, &c., upon
payment to him by the occupiers thereof, at the rate of 3/6 per load of one cubic
yard of such refuse. (For particulars of contract see page 9.)
