IV. Poor-Law Administration.
The Paddington Workhouse and Infirmary are situate in the
Harrow Road; the management is in the hands of a Board of
Guardians, Twenty-four of whom are Elected Guardians (elected
by the Ratepayers), and one co-opted by the Guardians. Paddington
is united with St. George, Hanover Square, and Fulham,
to form a District called the West London School District, the
Schools being at Ashford, near Staines.
By an Order of the London County Council, the number
)f Members on the Board was increased in 1894 from 18 to 24
representing six Wards, as follow, viz.:—(For Ward Boundaries
see page 14).

V. The School Board.
In 1870, Paddington and the parishes of St. Marylebone,
St. Pancras, and St. John, Hampstead, were formed into one of
the Metropolitan Districts for the purposes of the Elementary
Education Act (33 and 34 Victoria, cap. 75), under the name of the
Marylebone Division of the School Board for London, which
Division returns Seven Members to the School Board.
