XXIV.—Canals.
In accordance with the recommendations of the
Conference of Delegates from the Parishes of St.
Marylebone, St. Pancras, and Paddington, the
Grand Junction Canal Company have caused a
further portion of their Basin to be concreted, and
a suggestion to erect ventilating shafts for sewerventilating
purposes on Nos. 2, 4, 7, and 16 Wharves,
South side, and 1a, Irongate Wharf Road, is now
occupying attention.
XXV.—Paddington Charities.
An inquiry by Mr. Walter Wigram, Barrister-atLaw,
Assistant Charity Commissioner, into the
administration of the above has been held at the
instance of the London County Council, the Trustees
present being Sir George D. Harris, L.C.C.,
Col. H. R. Mead, R.E., Rev. Walter Abbott, MA.,
Vicar, Rev. A. Scott, M.A., Messrs. C. Braid, J.P.,
J. Farmer, J.P., W. Urquhart, L.C.C., R. F. Whur,
J. Williams, E. Parker-Young, A. G. Bicker-Caarten,
F. Plimley, and Dr. A. Prince.
The Commissioner remarked that he had gone
through the books and accounts relating to the
various Charities, which appeared to him to have
been admirably kept. At the conclusion of the
lengthened inquiry the Commissioner intimated that
a printed report would be furnished as to the history
and management of the Charities.
