METEOROLOGY.
Mr. James Glaisher, F.R.S., in his Report to the
Registrar-General on the Meteorology of England
and Wales, observes that the weather in October
was generally fine, with frequent rain towards the
middle of the month. The temperature of the air
was generally above its average till the 29th, and
below the average on the last two days. The fall
of rain was above its average at most stations.
In November the weather was cloudy and cold,
with frequent changes, both of temperature and
atmospheric pressure. The temperature of the air
was generally below its average till the 27th, and
above from the 28th to the 30th. The fall of rain
about London was a little below the average.
In December the weather was generally dull
and mild. The temperature of the air was generally
above the average from the 6th to the 28th. The fall
of rain was a little above its average at all stations.
About London the mean temperature of the air
for October was 51°.5, being 2°.1 above the average
of 122 years.
The mean temperature of the air for November
was 41°.8, being 0°.7 below the average of 122 years.
