REPORT, 1892-93.
HOLIDAYS.
13.—Your Committee would recommend—
H.—That the following holidays in the year be allowed
with full pay and a gratuity of 2s. 6d. on Christmas
Day:—
Christmas Day. Easter Monday.
Boxing Day. Whit Monday.
Good Friday. 1st Monday in August
"Bank Holiday."
And a day for the Annual Beanfeast.
SICK PAY.
14.—Your Committee find that the system adopted by
the Surveyor as regards sick allowance compares favourably
with the arrangements in force in other Parishes, and
they recommend that such practice be continued.
15.—Your Committee are not prepared to make any recommendations
as regards the men's application to be treated
as weekly servants, neither do they consider it expedient that
the Surveyor's authority should be weakened by the Committee
constituting itself a Court of Appeal for redressing
alleged grievances.
16.—In conclusion, your Committee would observe that
at no time has there been difficulty in obtaining labour, there
being as a rule from 20 to 30 men at the Wharf each morning
awaiting employment.
JOHN WILLIAMS, Chairman.
