76 BOROUGH OF PADDINGTON.
A Statement showing the amount of Fees received
by the Incumbent and the Board during the past three
years is likewise appended.
From the balance at the commencement of the
financial year a further sum of £1,500 was paid over
to the Vestry account, making a total of £37,600
since 1870, when the loan raised for the purchase and
laying-out of the ground was cleared off.
At the Meeting on the 2nd May, 1889, the Board
decided that the payment of discount to undertakers
on fees paid by them should be discontinued. This
was not followed by the expected diminution in the
receipts, as, owing to the action taken about this time
by the Hampstead Burial Board in ceasing to allow
discount, and excluding non-parishioners, many burials
which would have taken place at Hampstead took
place in the Paddington Cemetery.
The following shows the number of burials which
took place from the 31st March, 1889, to the 1st
April, 1890 :—
