METEOROLOGY.
Mr. James Glaisher, F.R.S., in his report to the RegistrarGeneral,
remarks, that the weather in July was very fine and
warm. The temperature of the air wan above the average on
every day of the month excepting three. The mean temperature
of the air was 66°.5. The fall of rain was much below
the average.
The weather in August was very fine and dry, the amount
of sunshine being above the average. The mean temperature
of the air was 62°.5. The fall of rain was below the average.
In September the weather was cold and unsettled, the
temperature of the air being below the average nearly every
day. The mean temperature of the air was 54°.0. The rainfall
was again below the average.
The mean temperature of the air for the quarter was 6l°.
The rainfall during the quarter measured 5.85 inches.
