Notes.
1. Population at Census, 1881, 107,218.
2. Area in Acres, 1,280.
3. Average No. of Persons in each House at Census, 1881, 8.1.
* For statistical purposes the Registrar-General estimates the population to
the middle of the year on the basis of the rate of increase ruling between the two
preceding Census periods. The estimate of population may be checked by the
known number of inhabited houses, and by the average number of inmates per
house, as ascertained at the preceding Census.
* * The deaths of non-parishioners in the public institutions (St. Mary's
Hospital, the Lock Hospital, and the Children's Hospital) within the Parish are
deducted for the years 1877-1885, inclusive; for the year 1876 the total deaths in
the above-mentioned institutions are deducted. After 1884 the deaths of parishioners
in outlying public institutions of the Metropolis are included.
