Surveyor's Department,
Vestry Hall,
30th June, 1 886.
Gentlemen,
The following is my Report of the various
works executed, and the general business transacted in
this Department during the Year ended 25th March
1886.
Highways.
The Contracts for the wood pavement laid in
Uxbridge Road at Porchester Gate, in the year 1876,
and in South wick Street, north of Connaught Street,
in 1878, have been cancelled or released in consequence
of the failure of the two Contracting Companies to
maintain the pavements in a satisfactory condition.
Various repairs have since been carried out by the
Vestry, and certain steps are being taken to remove the
existing and much-worn pavement, and to substitute
new wood paving blocks to be laid on the existing concrete
foundation?.
