waters the New River Company's supply is far superior
to that of any of the others.
The water supplied by the Grand Junction Company
exhibited the greatest variations, as it contained
both the smallest and the largest proportions of organic
matter, the average proportion, however, being only
equalled by that of the Southwark Company.
Paddington is supplied with water by the Grand
Junction and West Middlesex Companies, which draw
their supplies from the Thames, as do also the Chelsea,
the Lambeth, and the Southwark Companies.
To Dr. Frankland's Annual Report to the
Registrar-General I am indebted for many of the preceding
remarks, and for the annexed Tables showing
the condition of the London water.
