METEOROLOGY.
In his Report to the Registrar-General, Mr. James
Glaisher, F.R.S., remarks that in April the weather was cold
till after the middle, and warm from the 17th to the end of
the month. The barometric readings were generally low
throughout the month. The rainfall was about the average.
The mean temperature of the air was 47.7, being 1.6 above
the average of 114 previous years.
In May the weather was cold throughout the month.
The atmospheric pressure was variable. The mean temperature
of the air for May was 49*9, being 2 6 below the
average of 114 years.
In June the weather was dry. East winds were prevalent.
The mean temperature of the air was 59.5, being
1.3 above the average of 114 years.
The mean temperature for the quarter was 52.4, being
0.1 above the average of the previous 114 years.
The rainfall in London during the quarter was 5.75 inches.
