supplied by two companies ranged from 43.9° in
January to 69.8° in August. The temperature of
the deep well water supplied by the Kent Company
varied from 53.6° in February and March to 58.8°
in June. Thus, even in the hottest months, the agreeable
coolness of the deep well water was unimpaired,
whilst the river water became unpleasantly warm to
the taste. Paddington is supplied with water by the
Grand Junction and West Middlesex Companies,
which draw their supplies from the Thames.

Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
JAMES STEVENSON,
Medical Officer of Health.
Vestry Hall, Paddington,
June, 1885.
