Sub-district. In London there were 134 deaths.
Measles.
Measles caused in London 2,420 deaths, being
in the proportion of 0.61 to 1,000 inhabitants. In
Paddington there were 37 deaths, of which 28
occurred in St, Mary's Sub-district, and 9 in St.
John's, giving a rate of 0.34 per 1,000.
Scarlet Fever.
Scarlet fever caused in London 1,989 deaths,
giving a rate of 0.51 per 1,000 inhabitants. In
Paddington there were 39 deaths, of which 34
occurred in St. Mary's, and 5 in St. John's Subdistrict.
Fifty-five cases were removed to the
Hospitals, viz.— 10 to the London Fever Hospital,
and 45 to the Hospitals of the Asylums Board. Of
the 55 cases 48 were from St. Mary's and 7 from
St. John's Sub-district. Several cases treated at

their own homes subsequently came under the notice
of the Inspectors.
Diphtheria.
Diphtheria caused in London 951 deaths, giving
a rate of 0.24 per 1,000, a higher rate than any
recorded during the last 20 years. In Paddington
