„ „ in Edinburgh 19.7 „
„ „ in Glasgow 25.4 „
„ „ in Dublin 27.9 „
„ „ in England and Wales 19.6 „
The annual rate of mortality in each one of the
five groups of districts into which London is divided
is shown as under :—
North Districts 19.7 per 1,000.
West „19.9 „
South „20.7 „
Central „23.9 „
East „25.3 „
As is usually the case, and as has been previously
remarked, the death-rates were highest in the Eastern
and Central groups, and lowest in the Northern
and Western, the Southern group holding an intermediate
position.
It will be observed that the death-rate in the
Parish in 1882 was 16.3, whilst that in the two preceding
years was 15.7 ; but with these exceptions,
the death-rate was lower than that recorded in many
previous years. The same remark applies to the
rate of mortality in London, that of last year being
slightly in excess of the rate of 1881. In calculating
the rate, no account is taken of the deaths,

The ratio of deaths to the population, together with the death-rate per 1,000 in the Parish and in its two Sub-districts, is shown in the following table : —
