VESTRY OF THE PARISH OF PADDINGTON.
Public Lighting Department,
June 21st, 1881.
Gentlemen,
I have to submit the Seventh Annual
Report ending Lady-day, 1881, as to the working
of this department.
During the year the following damages have
been done to the public lamps, either through accidents
or carelessness, viz.:—5 lamp posts knocked
down, 12 lamp columns broken, 8 head-irons and
lanterns damaged; repairing this work having been
executed by the Vestry's own staff. In 13 cases the
parties liable for such damage have been discovered,
and the expenses attending the restoration have
been paid by them. Where necessary summonses
have been issued to enforce payment.
