Wo the undersigned, being Auditors of Accounts appointed under the provisions of the "Metropolis
Local Management Act," for the purpose of auditing the accounts of the Vestry of the Parish of
Paddington, do state that wo have audited the accounts of the said Vestry for the year ending 25th
March, 1880, and have allowed the same as set forth in the Abstract marked A. And we state that the
several Contracts entered into by the Vestry during the year ending 25th March, 1880, are to the best of
our belief specified in the foregoing statements of such Contracts marked B. And that the monies owing
to and the Debts and Liabilities owing and incurred by such Vestry respectively, are specified in the
foregoing statements of such Credits, Debts, and Liabilities respectively marked C. And we hereby
disallow the undermentioned sums, namely:—
1879.—April 2nd, Cheque No. 6,380, Matthews, Refreshments for Highway Committee £4 13 6
„ do. 6,398, Unite, for hire and erection of Tent in which dinner was
held at the opening of the slop tank 26 0 0

Our reason for such disallowance being that the said charges are illegal ones to the Parochial Rates,
and are in contravention of the Act of Parliament, 18 and 19 Victoria, and we here by surcharge the said
sum against those Vestrymen who have signed the Cheques above Stated, namely:—

Note.—I dissent with my Co.auditors to the amount of £21,681 14s. 1d. for School Hoard, being
charged as a liability, I being of opinion that this portion of the precept is a part and parcel only of the
accounts for the year ending 25th March, 1881, thus reducing the liabilities to £26,763 2s. 4d.
