During the last quarter the births registered were 709, the
deaths 462, being at a rate of 27.3 and 17.8 per 1,000 respectively
of the estimated population. Zymotic diseases formed
14.3 per cent. of the 462 deaths; 19.6 of the total deaths were
in public institutions, that is, 91 deaths in St. Mary's Hospital
and the Workhouse.
