to continue the old Contract until the end of the
September quarter, by which time everything was in a
satisfactory condition for commencing.
On the 1st October the new system was inaugurated
and not withstanding the severe tests to which it has
been subjected, it has accomplished in a most satisfactory
manner what the Vestry has so long desired, viz.:—
the purchase of Gas by measurement in a convenient
way, and with justice both to the Ratepayers and the
imperial Gas Company.
I have the pleasure to submit the following Tables,
showing the results of the working under the Old and
New Systems for the first six months:—

of 2,727,075 cubic feet, or 12 per cent, less than the
quantity that would have been charged for under the
former arrangement.
