REPORT
TO THE VESTRY OF PADDINGTON.
Vestry Hall;
29th June, 1871.
Gentlemen,
I have the honour to submit this
my Annual Report of the several Works executed
and the chief business transacted in the Paving,
Lighting and Sewers Departments, during the year
ending Lady-day, 1871.
Paving.
The Footway Pavements and Water Channels in
many Streets have been taken up, relaid and repaved
in consequence of the increasing traffic and wear and
tear caused by the formation of New Streets and
Neighbourhoods in the North and West portions of
the Parish, and in the Parishes thereto adjoining.
Several Footways have been widened and improved,
and where the surface of a few others had been worn
uneven, the Flags have been taken away, and Rock
Asphalte Paving, by way of experiment, substituted.
